I’ve recently had some time on my hands and have started taking on projects through UN volunteers … yeah, that UN…blue berets… stuff of Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire, one of the greatest Canadians.
we all know how i feel about everyone playing nice in the sandbox
As Canadians, we should know how very fortunate we are. If you don’t / won’t let yourself see that… shame on you.
Canada is not perfect… but it’s close. Complain all you want… but participate in the solutions, too.
my role CREATIVE + ART DIRECTION i applied online at unv.org to a request from phillip appiah at PAAJAF in ghana. he reached out with a copy deck, images, logo and within about 2 days, this was completed and sent off to his donor for continued funding. incredible. the world really isn’t that big! thank you phillip!
my role CREATIVE + ART DIRECTION sujay at butterflies in new delhi, india sent me an email asking if i might help with a redesign of a broadsheet that is produced by children. of course, this was right up my alley! what’s shown is the template – the kids create the layouts, research and write stories – adding art, pictures etc. we had a chat about the template not being static, that stories and images could be puzzled together, just like any other newspaper – true production! i love it! i had no idea this initiative was in place. giving marginalized kids work skills, creativity… and most important… a voice… amazing. thank you sujay!
my role CREATIVE + ART DIRECTION i reached out to capea cameroon to help with their strategic plan. keghah roger huah sent me the docs and images… and we let the formatting begin! much like annual reports, there’s a lot of copy but that’s where design takes over. during the final stages of the project, i received an email apologizing for the delay – the region was in crisis and they’d get back to me with changes. i had to stop and think about that… for more than a minute. thank you keghah!
